Question: What are those plates for under the shock tower hats? I know this is off-topic but, only thing I will ask on this question.
No problem. My homemade tubular shock tower-to-firewall support is welded to them. There's a full view photo at the beginning of this thread. They're actually large "structural washers" I bought from McMaster-Carr.
One of the problem my son had with his system was GROUNDS . He has the powder coated unit the ground for the system is the passenger side front corner mounting bolt . If you use a flat washer make sure the washer is NOT touching the powder coat OR you WILL have a GROUND problem. Jay
Ive installed 2 of these on customer cars now and installing another tomorrow and have one more waiting for the customer bring in his for a FiTech installation. My shop is now set up as an authorized installation center. We had the idle problem on a stock 302 powered Bronco. Its a simple adjustment. You just back off the throttle blade screws till the the stepper motor counts are between 6 and 10. FiTech says the 600 hp system is too big for a small stock motor. I believe that means under 350 cubes. We did this conversion before the 400hp systems came out. We also ran into the vent return problem on this Bronco. We did use the commander. Our problem is we did tee into the dual tank vent system. We had put the vent return going into the secondary tank with out realizing it. Also note that this system was all screwed up on this Bronco already. We ended up proper plumbing the system and putting the vent line on a T into the vent line going to the primary tank. No more fuel pushing out the line from the tank. Tomorrow we are putting the 4oo hp system on a model A with a 347 that is just a driver. We will use the C5 Corvette fuel filter/regulator. We did this on our first FiTech install on a 454 in an El Camino. We also use this same set up on LSX swaps we do. It works really well. We have a Dorman fuel line repair kit that allows us to build factory type nylon fuel lines that attach to the corvette filter and we have a mastercool tube flaring kit that allows us to to put the proper ends on the steel fuel lines for the nylon fuel line ends. These lines cost a fraction of what AN lines cost and give a very factory looking installation. If anybody needs one of these systems or help with one or one installed, feel free to message me or call my shop at (619)807-3344 Heres some pics of the Bronco install Heres some pics of the FiTech on the 454 El Camino Rock auto sells stock replacement fuel tanks that have an intake efi pump in them for really good prices. They have them for 60s mustangs and those tanks can be made to work in mavericks and comets!!! Here's a pic of the El Camino's tank. The link I had posted was only for the case!!! I hope nobody ordered it!!! If so cancel. I had to cancel my order! Heres a new link to the fuel line repair kit. http://www.autozone.com/fuel-system...l-line-repair-kit/715910_0_0/?cmpid=PS:3:1:67 Heres the fuel filter I use http://www.summitracing.com/parts/w...0TaFgOO7XKilcNF48TAvDjCbtaGNXH2-g8aAtx88P8HAQ Heres the flaring kit I use http://www.tooldiscounter.com/ItemD...NAlp5rBG5vtLqT9x1gefCC3ZN08ogYYlxMaAlws8P8HAQ I would recommend FiTech for most every thing. Most problems are simple things like Jays (Mavdog71) ground problem, or idle blade adjustment. On the El Camino, we thought it was a 396 not a 454 and it would run like crap! We finally figured out it was a 454 and changed the displacement in the hand held tablet that comes with the unit and It instantly ran perfectly. Im glad to help anybody with any questions on this.
FiTech also blames some of the fuel command center vent problems on the default low speed PWM value for the electric pump. From the factory it was set to a high value that could cause the pump to overheat and boil fuel out of the vent. They suggest lowering it to 38 or so. Supposedly new units are now set to the lower value.
Bryant, how do you install the d@mn Russell push lock hoses onto the fittings? That took me longer than the rest of the installation. Well, not really, but I spent a good bit of time on them. There's a video on YouTube by Russell where their guy just holds the hose and fitting in his hands and fully seats them together in about 2 seconds. Yeah, right. Clown.
spray with silicone lubricant and push against something hard. Its not the easiest thing to do but you dont want the fuel line to come off.
I need to reprogram the advance curve in my electronic ignition and since I installed Windows 10 on my computer last week I'm not able to connect to the ignition. I have the timing advancing at a lower rpm than the idle set point on the FiTech. More fiddling to do but it's easy stuff. Haven't had a chance to drive the car for the past two weeks, heading out to a car show this afternoon. I am impressed with the drivability and WOT is just crazy fun. Unlike a four barrel where you push the pedal to the floor and you're on the primaries for awhile and then the secondaries kick in, this thing just nails it from the beginning, I guess because all four of the barrels work simultaneously.
I bought this tool for them. Found it on a YouTube video. Works good it's called knuckle saver hydraulic hose tool.
