For the price of the fender freight should have been included, I got off easier than most because it was shipped to a business address, instead of residential. Freight was like $120. It was kinda hard to commit that much to just a fender; but I didn't want to deal with fixing the one I have because of how crooked it is. When I was on the phone with Melvin's they said it would arrive sometime between tomorrow and Monday. There will be pics as soon as I get it hung so everyone can see how well it actually fits
yeah, that just sucks, so go ahead and rip us off guys!!! For what that fender cost it could most assuredly have been repaired to look new.
They are expensive but...Playing devils advocate here...The time/materials needed to fix a bent up and or rusted out fender will come close to if not exceed the cost of replacement. That said...If you can do it all yourself and have the time to kill then...No... A new replacement is not cost effective for you. If you do it on the side for others (Like me) or its your job/buisiness...Time is money. Peace out!!!
Can you post a picture of the box when it arrives. I would be curious what kind of packaging it comes in. I presume it is being shipped directly from Dynacorn???
I'll be sure to take pictures of the packaging when it arrives, and yes its being drop shipped directly from dynacorn
And if some Bondo is involved in a do-it yourself job, you out to price in a premium to keep it Bondo free.
Dealing with freight costs as a business is an ongoing issue. We battle it regularly and if left unchecked it can take a business down. One potential way around the freight would be to find a local Dynacorn dealer, several years back when they first introduced some GTO pieces I looked into the dealer requirements and they (at that time) offered prepaid freight on stock orders to dealers on qualifying orders. If you have a dealer within driving distance you could check with them on getting them with their stock order for free shipping. EDIT!!!! Potentially bad info, it might have been Goodmark rather than Dynacorn, too long ago and my memory is a bit foggy!
Just got word that the Fender arrived at the shop today, I have classes today but tomorrow I've got an open day and plan on being out there. I will try and get pictures of the packaging, and how well the fender fits tomorrow afternoon!
Sorry for the delay on getting this all posted guys! Other stuff got in the way of me getting on here to do it. Here's some pics of the packaging, they are cell phone pics, and I didn't have anyone around to hold stuff so the angle on the last one showing the inside of the fender is kind of eh. But overall I was impressed with the packaging. the fender arrived unscathed. and between picking up a factory fender and this one I could tell little to no difference in weight.
I was super impressed with the fit, the body lines all line up nice, my doors need to be realigned because they aren't perfectly lined up since we will pull them again for paint, and my hood needs some straightening on the drivers side. the bolt holes all line up, I didn't have to elongate any of them. I never dreamed when I got my Maverick almost 2 years ago now that we would have reproduced sheet metal for these cars.
From where I'm sitting it looks really good, I'm also impressed with the packaging. I am curious though what gauge metal they use as compared to stock ?
Hello Metionic: Thanks for the pics and information on this new product ! I also am impressed with the packaging since we do a great deal of packaging in my business. What ' test ' cardboard was the box .. 200 , 100 ? Just curious . It seemed to hold up well judging from the photos. Looks like we got a winner here ! I don't need fenders on any of our cars .. but if I ever did .. I'd deal with dynacorn. I'm ordering one of their hoods for my 70 Maverick. Glad to hear the mounting holes are correct. Roll on !
