I currently have a 1405 edelbrock 600cfm carb. The car starts and drive great. Sometimes after the car drives for awhile while at a stop light the engine idle seems to drop. The idle drops to 200-300 in gear and 400 in neutral/park. It does not happen all the time either. Normally the idle is around 500 in gear and 700ish in park. The fuel pressure remains constant and the fuel lines are not getting direct heat. This happened to me again today and had to bump up the idle a bit to get it where it needed to be. Hopefully I have explained it well enough.

I'm not going to be any helped here but very interested to see what maybe the remedy for this because I've never had any luck with Edelbrock carburetors. the 2 I had always had a problem with idle quality. So I went with a Holley & my problems are now gone. One of the edelbrooks was the same as yours & iv taken them apart and soaked them in carb cleaner & rebuilt them. Always seem to work fine for a while but they always end up with a unpredictable Idle quality. I thought maybe it's the alcohol in the gas affecting the carburetor kit so I bought a kit pacifically for ethanol gas fuels and still the same thing idle quality problems.

Did you check your tranny fluid? This will affect idle.

Last I check, about a week ago, the level was fine and it is only a 1k miles old. How would the transmission fluid affect idle? Never heard that one before.
