Hello fellow Maverick & Comet lovers, it seams that a lot of the Grabber spoilers have lost there mounting hardware after being removed from the car. In this thread I will show you what I used to make these pieces for my friend using my factory pieces as a template. First let’s start with pictures of the factory pieces with some measurements. I stopped by the local Menards and found these “Steel EMT Conduit Cap’s” part #41582 for $2.09 each. You will need 4 of them to mount the spoiler, although I suggest getting 5 (things happen). I apologize for not having a picture of the 3/8 hole I drilled in the center of the cap. But I think you get the idea. I cut them to length (1.25”) and marked two sides for the openings (0.664”) then cut them out using a cutoff tool. One of the cuts should remove the piece that has the holes for the screws. Clean them up with a small grinder and bend the ends so it looks like this finished part. Now all you have to do is paint & mount the spoiler.
The big question I have is how long did you wander the isles of the hardware store before you found the caps? I can spend 45 minutes or more roaming the isles with an idea before I spot the appropriate solution.
Nicely made! I bought my set from Johnny: http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/spoiler-hold-downs.97770/page-11
I thought that I had seen someone selling them but could not find em when we needed em. That’s a good price too.
