So I'm FINALLY putting it all in tomorrow. I rebuilt my front end first so I got delayed a few days.

Question is, when putting the 302 w/trans mounted to it in the mav, do I need to leave the main sterring bar that attatches to the steering box and tie rods off or will I have room with it all together to slide everything in place?

Leave everything in its place no need to remove anything, main problem will be tipping engine enough to clear the core support and lowering it down and moving it back. The job of installing engine and tranny in car is much easier with 2 people. Sometimes once you get engine stuffed in the hole you can move the car to help line it up on frame stands

    Hi Satchelmcqueen.
I find it much easier to install the eng/trans with the rear of the car raised and secured, and without the harmonic damper in place.

Agreed, though I generally install with car level.

Engine bay is completely bare. I will probably put the rear in the air so I can crawl under once the weight is on it.

Just glad I got those scary as crap new coil springs in and the front rebuilt. Never again will I put in coil springs. Almost crapped my pants before...during...and after the install.lol

As long as you use the proper tools and take your time the coil springs aren't too bad of a job. Just NEVER use a impact of the thread. I always inspect the threads before using it and make sure to oil them liberally. I also agree with the others. Engine bay clean, steering components can stay, drop the engine and trans in together. I usually have the front end on jack stands. Try to have someone else there to help spot you, you can do it by your self but it helps to have an extra set of eyes and hands.

Hey rag9836! ....Heres where I removed mine. Its time consuming but not bad. I should have pulled it all together but didn't have any extra help to get the trans clear of everything so I pulled them seperatly. Not to hard...but I did go slow.

I will say, buy the longer lift. 72" our should be plenty. Mine was a shorter one and I had to pull the front bumper off to make it work.
