    Coupler should just slide off.

When swapping to a '74 Comet P/S sector, I didn't have any issue removing one from my '69 Fairlane or installing one on the Comet box. Note bolt must be removed, not just loosened.

Alright I've had it off now. I used a torch and penetrant. My next question is, does this look right?

    That's strange.
I have a huge 1973 Chilton's manual that has guides for all auto makers, but it doesn't cover a rag joint/column...
It this thing hard to get back onto the box shaft? They tell me to just lightly tap it on with a socket so I think I'll be ok.

It needs to be lined up properly or it will not go on. there is a spot where the splines are wider to clock the coupler.
