I installed a Unisteer power rack in mine, here is some advice, 1 do not use the high pressure hose they provide it will not last have Napa make one, 2 the pump bracket is junk get a KRC bracket that bolts to head, requirs some modification, 3 the tie rod ends are of good quality but are strait and that creates a problem when you raise the car it puts too much undo stress on the rack, I modified the stock ends since they have a slight angle to bolt up to the 14mm inner rods and last you have to give it a bit more toe in because of the excess play in the center take off rack witch is normal, if you dont you will not keep it on the road, or push up on the center take off when doing alignment, oh and install smaller flow valve on the pump, trust me. there thats my 2 cents

Thanks for the advice, particularly on the alignment. Got the rack installed this weekend. I'm going to try and use the factory ford pump from a 92 5.0l so don't know if I'll need a flow valve with that. Will be a few months before it all is on the road and I can get it to an alignment shop.

At full drop the tie rod end ball joints are at their limits of travel, so I am a bit concerned about that. Can you post a pic of your tie rod ends so I can compare to how this is sitting.

Here is a pic showing the full drop. Those tie rods are at quite an angle.

Seems as thou wud have worked that issue out B4 releasing to the public. I wudn't be comfortable w/ that angle either. I am wondering if the Stang owners have the same problem...

I told unisteer about all their design flaws 3 years ago, I can take a pic of my tie rod ends, its a simple fix, I will try to explain how to do it when I post it.

    That would be great modmav.

I'm going back up to my shop during the holidays and will be trying to finish this up. I'll get full weight on it and see where they are at. I have to finish putting the rebuilt motor back together first.

I posted a pic of my tie rod end. somehow 2 showed up and was unable add anything else to it. this is my modified stock tie rod end, I welded 3 grade 8 nuts together then rounded them enough to fit inside a piece of heavy steel pipe, I forget the ID of pipe but needs to be large enough for the original adjuster sleeve to fit inside. after rounding the nuts I drilled a few 3/8 holes in the pipe and slid the nuts inside and plug welded them in. then I shortened the sleeve and basically pressed it into the pipe up tight to the nut and welded it in place with plug weld. then I shortened the tie rod end a bit and beveled the threaded end a bit because when I pressed the sleeve into the pipe it compressed it. once I had beveled it enough I the threaded it into the sleeve (my goal was for the tie rod to penetrate the pipe) and tightened the clamp. when welding nuts together have them on a 14 x 1.50 mm bolt, and you may need a 14mm tap to clean out the threads

I will say this anyone wanting the unisteer for the mav/comet , Summit has a really good price $1665. Unisteer has it on their website for almost $1800 now.

If they do go long like they did with me, Summit may credit you another 10% after a couple of months as long as you keep on them about their commitment dates. That's what they did for me. Personally I would have preferred to just have it delivered so I could keep the project moving, but they did at least do that much for the inconvenience.
