I got a new toy in the shop, Rotary 2 post lift. I went to elevate the comet today and.... stopped. Can anyone tell me or better yet pics of where the safe lift points are for a comet/maverick (1972 if that matters). The Pinch welds look like the obvious place, I have used them for jacking her up but for a post lift????? Thanks
thanks. So, I know this will be a stupid question, but I just thought torque boxes were only in the front? So where are the rear ones?
on mine I use...Torque boxes front and front rear spring hanger in back. it took me two days to straighten out the Pinch welds on my car where people had used them for lifting.
I still have about a foot to straighten on mine. It's flat against the bottom of the rocker. Pretty sure it was a ground clearance issue since it was on both sides.
I am assuming this is the rear torque box, It really looks weak to me but it work Should I center the pad more on the torque box and not touching the spring? for the front should I put the pads front to back like this or is it better to go driver side to passenger side. Sorry for all the questions, I am new to lifts and I know torque boxes can be touchy. Just looking forward not to on my back anymore
That spot is fine, that's the front of your rear sub frame rail and is plent strong. That's where I jack my car from.
