Anyone know where to get a Grabber Style Hood with the center, 3 or so inches taller to accomodate something more that a Performer Intake on a 351W? My new combo isn't quite going to fit.
A raised center would be a popular item, have raised Grabber center ever been produced?. typical Ram tunnel hoods look like GM to me. Comet GT has the hood scoop but not 3" high.
I have had three raised cowl hoods and the people that made them no longer make them. You will probably have to make a hood for your car by cutting your hood and installing a Comet or Mustang hood scoop or maybe someone give up one that they have
There was a (now long dead) discussion on producing one, that apparently involved a prototype - but it was entwined in drama and involved some people who were either banned or left the forum permanently.
combo isn't quite going to fit. Many builds have this problem with the low Mav/Comet hood . Inline six builds have even less headroom under hood. The iconic FORD signature 'Teardrop Bubble' hood scoop looks good on almost any blue oval vehicle and can add the clearance often needed with problematic intake plumbing . the '74 with 250/Vortech needed a way to fit the charge pipe to the carb . . 74's previous Draw-thru turbo setup used Comet GT scoop raised to a silly height to clear the equipment: . . Earlier Ford Comet 250 Tri-Power uses the teardrop to add needed clearance: .
I have thought that a 2010-12 Mustang Hood Bulge on the stock hood would look good on our cars. I have not measured for width, so that may be an issue. Also ... the hood skin is aluminum, so trim out the bulge with a flange still attached and rivet it on?
The 2010-12 hood made me visualize altering (cutting and fabricating) a stock Comet or Maverick hoods' existing relief/bulge. Raising just center bulge could be possibility - with a little work... . . have fun
