Saturday went and got some donated maverick parts not sure what year the car was but happy with the parts from it. now i can replace both door arm rests, unfortunately only the passenger door arm rest is in one piece but drivers arm rest in semi better condition than original. had some bucket seats in better condition than the current bench. now can have 3 mirrors instead of 2 passenger mirror will look off but it works for now.

Removed and painted lower dash in order to complete fuse box relocation. A friend has an 8.8 rear from a 96 or 7 explorer, offered it to me for 150$....Is that a desirable unit at a good price? Sorry, that query just came to mind, had to ask before my thoughts rolled onto something else....Yesterday I searched around town for Frost King duct insulation....reportedly works to deaden noise and insulate at a friendly price....today? ...perhaps I'll install a cloaking device.....

Beat me to it. I don't think Ford started offering them until the mid-90s, and then only on high-trim Lincoln Town Cars. Weighed as much as a flux capacitor and used almost as much power.

Problem is, Town Cars with option aren't visible.

If you can see it, either not optioned or has stopped functioning.

The 95-01 axle is a desirable axle, 31 spline, limited slip and disc brakes and $150 is a good price.
Here’s a link with information on the Explorer 8.8.
    https://www.therangerstation.com/tech/ford-explorer-8-8-inch-rear-axle-swap/

And a link with information on shortening the Explorer 8.8, I recommend shortening it for use in 70-77 Maverick’s/Comet’s although others have installed them without shortening.

You’re welcome, all this seemingly useless information floating around in my head comes in handy once in awhile. In the narrowing link it says 1995-2004 Explorer, that’s wrong, Explorers had the straight axle up to 2001. Third generation 2002 - 2005 came with independent rear suspension and used a 8.8 center with CV shafts.
