I found this 75 Comet Stallion 2dr (has fender emblem), (not mine) that is just setting looking for a good home. Not my type but it is what someone else might be looking for. This Comet is in the best shape I have seen for an un-restored vehicle. It is in Nevada and the owner has the title. Last licensed 2013 in Nevada.
All the trim is perfect, grill is perfect, windshield is only glass that is cracked. It's a 200/6 cyl with 3 spd manual and the beauty of it is, it's a 5 lug system. Manual front drum system with no PS. All the under the hood parts are there, including charcoal canister, air cleaner, even the smog tubing and induction duckwork. This Comet is completely unmolested. Carpet, door panels, rear panels, interior is excellent. Original keys also.
Anyone want to give to a good home?

Beginning '73 all Mav/Comet were five lug, has floor shift option but not much else.

I suspect someone stuck the Ghia badge on it...

Same color paint and interior as my '72 was orig.

The Maverick/Comet never had a "Ghia" model. As Tom mentioned, if it has a Ghia emblem, somebody stuck it on there.

Does look like a solid cart. It beats dragging a car out of the woods and buying all the repair panels under the sun to fix it.

Because, majority of them don't have clue of what their getting them selves involved in. Most likely so many projects never come to fruition.

My 66 Stang 2004 to 2011, my 68 Cougar 2008 to present. That and the cost.

I know a guy that collects project cars and never does nothing to them. He has some nice ones to and won't sell any of them. They sit and rot. Yuck!

Exactly my point, Craig and others tell them to buy a clean car but they don’t listen to people with knowledge and still buy a RUSTY POS and think because it’s cheaper than a clean car they’ll have less $ into it in the end.:slap:

In their wildest dream. Just finding parts on Mav/Comets is a issue. My 68 Cougar, each bumper is $800 and the dash was $500.

Yep, don’t get me started on trying to find Comet small front bumpers. The shop I work for makes Cougar trunk repair panels and trunk drop panels because the owner couldn’t find any when he was restoring his 67 Cougar.(y)

People looking for 67/68 Cougar parts. They want to buy a driver and have no idea what it takes to bring one of these back from the dead. Clean/flush the fuel and brake systems. Then fix them. Rusted piston rings, auto trans leaking, cooling system bad, wiring history, etc, etc, etc.

What you guys are speaking of isn't that uncommon a situation. Hidden demons are a real problem with any old car one wants to restore. All someone has to do is to watch one of the resto shown on Motor Trend or Velocity and see what the pros have to deal with on cars they get in. I applaud anyone wanting to save any classic but it takes some degree of self education before one buys anything out there. I went that route on my first Mav. It ended up needing a LOT of body work which was above my pay grade. The garage find I have now needed what it needed but I'm way more educated on what I had to look at before I opened my wallet and it worked out very well for me as a result. I've had a few unpleasant surprises along the way but nothing I couldn't handle and I know what is still needed and will get to it as soon as my shoulder heals from my surgery. Buying a clean car isn't necessarily a guarantee of it not needing things as poor work can hide a lot of problems. Also, not every seller is honest about the real state of a particular car. I've even seen that happen on the shows so you know that happens in real life. Bottom line is that you have to go into every potential resto eyes wide open regardless of what state the car is in. Those that buy sight unseen and relying on pictures take a huge chance. That's something I would never do no matter how tempting the purchase is. I've seen many cars that look great in pictures but up close tell a different story. The '66 Mustang I looked at before I bought my '94 GT convertible is one good example. The online pics looked amazing. I saw issues from 20 feet away when I went to look at it and the closer I got, the more issues stood out. Sitting in it and trying to start it revealed more. I bit my tongue when the price was revealed which I didn't know up front. It's the wild, wild west out there buying classics to some extent.

Sold it in less then 24hrs. Then had offers doubling the amount. People do want these cars. Deal is a deal. Now I do have a 72 Comet GT, V-8, auto, cracked windshield, (have a good replacement), along with the Grabber trunk lid and fender corners for it. Starting to clean her up (why engine is taken apart). Only rust is in the lower right rear corner. all other rust is surface rust. It even comes with good inner front/rear panels and rear window trim. Good luck finding those. and factory rear speakers.
