After the Frame Machine and Doing the Pulling, Car Headed to the Shop, It was Time to Start Cutting away the Damaged Parts and Making of the Replacement Parts, A few things we did find was this was not the First Time the was Hit, It Took a Shot on the Passenger Rear Quarter Before and was Repaired, Loade with Filler at Tail Light Panel at Right Corner,, We Stripped all that out and Repaired the Part. Below will Be a Few Photos of what we did, and How we did the work. The Conversation I had with the Owner was, We are not going to make this Look Like it was a Fresh Restore, But as if it was Just a Well Kept Car and Survivor,, The Car after all was Not Really in Bad Shape, Just needed some Attention here and There. The Door was Absolutely Crushed, But Some How the Glass Survived, But Before we Attempted to Even Try and get the Glass out, We went into Inventory and We Absolutely Did not Have a Passenger side Factory Green tint Window,, So This had to be done Slow, Or the bow and Tention on the Glass Could Snap Back and Shatter it if Revoved to fast, So we made Cuts in the Door and let small Metal attachments Stretch Slow instead of a Fast Cut and Spring Back. Glas was Saved, Set out in the Sun and weather for Days to Hope Let Relax and Come Back to Shape, After all Who Knows How long it had been Damaged. A Clean 1971 Door was Taken From Inventory along with a Quarter Panel, A Complete Rocker was Harvested From a Clean Donor Car as well, 3 Cars and the Parts Helped Save the GT. I am the Last Person that is Willing to Cut a Classic car up, But these Donor Cars Had Been Hit on Opposite Sides and Were Just Destroyed, and Very few Parts were even Left Behind, Many were Just Shells Pulled from Bone Yards and Set in Inventory for a rainy Day. Well We wre into the Repairs and Decided to Start the Car and see How it Ran, it had a few Misses and we Just Figured it sat a long Time and Had not been Run, But after running a while still ran Rough, But Started with a Key Flick, Under hood needed Attention and we Figured Let the Techs Have the Engine to Go over it and Replace Freeze Plugs Water Pump Plugs and Wires and Go through the Carb,, After all, its Not supposed to have a Pull Choke, So Little things over the Years Previous Owner or Owners did to Keep it Going. The Name of the Game is to do the work to where it is or Almost Impossible to see That Work has been Done, Cutting away the Old and Triming things Down to Recieve the New Parts, Measure Twice and Even 10 Times if Needed,, The Difference Between Restoration and Insurance Repairs is One is Flat Rate Time, and the Other is Preserving History. Many Parts Were from Our 3PG Fab, and Others from Donor Cars, From Inventory. After all The Bad and Damaged was Cut Away, The New was Test Fitted, 3/16" gap at Door and Quarter, and Also At Rocker in Mock UP,, Door at Neutral on Adjustments,, ( Meaning in the Middle ) Once we Test Fit all the Parts, and Stretched and moved car Back to Frame Machines a Couple of Times for Tiny and Stite Pulls,, It was Ready to Tack and Fit then Weld Down.
