I'm just curious what kind of gas mileage a stock 250 auto should get around town. Mine runs fine except sometimes the idle can have a slight miss, it does have an electronic ignition upgrade but everything else is stock and I'm getting 13 MPG - all stop and go around town driving. Carb is rebuilt, timing in spec, vacuum and compression are good, new plugs. Alignment is good, drives very straight.

I don't think anybody buys these cars for "gas mileage". :D

true, and I don't drive it enough to matter anyway but 13 seemed low so I wondered if something was wrong but from others comments that is about right, especially with the 10% ethenol.

With a 250-6 cylinder? I get that range of MPG's with my 2005 Silverado with 5.3 V-8 and 234,000 miles.

A Maverick/Comet with a 302 should be knocking down those numbers too. Right?

Yes, with a 250 six cylinder.
No, not with a 302 as equipped from that era...
