I also have a Milodon pan. It fits fine. Mine hangs a little low though. To lift the engine in/out, I have to pull the engine foward far enough for the pan to clear - that keeps me from having to pull the pan in the car. (y)

Thanks, It is an 89HO, has a motorsport z-cam, roller rockers (1.7), fresh bottom end (stock bore) The pan I got off of ebay for $89.00 custom made by thompson machine. came with pickup. Heads were given to me by a friend they have REALLY small chambers (pockets only around the valves) not sure of the cc's but alot smaller chambers than the other ones I had. I had to scrounge a front cover from the local yard for the dipstick hole in the cover. Not sure how I'm gonna plug the origional dipstick tube hole in the block. I should have tapped it and pipe plugged it BEFORE I put it together:hmmm: gonna go in front of a 73 C-4 freshened up with a B&M transpack. I also have a Z-gate shifter to install and Headers. I will post pics as I go but it will be slow going. Working full time 3rd shift and going to college full time in the days. Not enough hours in the daytime:cry: . Thanks again for the Information all have provided here and for the enthusiasm..Jerry BTW the Intake is an old Holley Street Dominator and I have a 650 holley off my old 85 GT.

Nice going!! I know what you mean about slow progress, but progress is still progress!! And just look back at how far you have come!! Congrats on making it this far, and good luck with the remainder.

P.S.- Have you ever used the Street Dominator intake before?? Just curious- that's what I run, and to me it performs more like a single-plane manifold. (Not much torque down low but good mid-high range power) Just curious what your thoughts were on it. Thanks, Preston

    Engine is in!!

Got the engine in the car today but ran into an unexpected problem. :hmmm: The flywheel is not a 157 tooth and wont fit in the C-4 and the torque convrerter wont bolt up either. I may end up putting the AOD i have in it for now. Hope it fits. Anyone who could give me any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Dont know if the AOD will fit with my headers or if I can get the right bracketry for the shifter (Z-GATE) . anyways here's a couple of teaser pics..:90: The oil pan was kinda fun to get around the horns, but at least it dont hang down as far as I thought it would..I probably need to post my pics somewhere else so I'm not clogging up the thread..

Would it be simpler just to get a 164 tooth flywheel if that is what is necessary?? Instead of having to "make" the AOD work and hope it clears your headers and then find the linkage for the Z-gate shifter?? Seems like a hundred bucks for another flexplate would be easier?? Not trying to put you down at all, just saying that you KNOW a C-4 will work with no problems (with the correct flexplate :D ) and the AOD may be a little tougher to do. Anyway, good luck with whichever way you go!! And by the way, you got it looking good!! (y) Preston

You can get a TCI 157 tooth 50 oz flexplate from Jegs for $60. Pretty sure it was them not Summit. You've got an AOD flexplate, which is also why the converter wont bolt up -- bolt pattern is smaller on the 157 tooth plate. The issue I ran into was my old C4 had a large bellhousing, so my block plate didn't line up on the starter hole, so make sure you've got the C4 block plate. Summit carries those, I think under $40 for a plate with an insert that fits both 157 and 164 tooth bells.

is balance not an issue? I thought the AOD flexplate would be 50 oz as well as 50 oz harmonic balancer. Most C-4s would be the 28 oz imbalance? so a new harmonic balancer? or am I outta my tree?

You can get them in any any combination today thanks to the popularity of the 5.0 Mustang. He has an HO engine so he will need the 50oz version for a C4.

Thanks, Depending on cash flowage I 'll probably get the 157 tooth flywheel and use the block plate from the old 250. Just think after I get everything together and running, I get to tear it all back apart again for thr body resto...:coco:
