Panel is contoured around the taillight pods.

Tail light panels come of pretty easily. You just have to drill out alot of spot welds. But take off the quarter extensions, bumper, and valance panel and they are all right there in fromt of you. I have always liked the Comet better than the Maverick. When I bought my Sprint new, I wanted a Comet instead. But it was $300 more. Dont sound like much now but was only making around $2.20 an hr back then.

Yeah, I will probably call around to see if anyone has a Comet sitting in a parts yard. That way I can get a lot of the parts I need all at once.

I got the idea because I like the Comet also, and since I'm got 2 Mavs, I wouldn't mind taking the white Maverick, and doing something different to it. Cause' I definitely want to re-do the Grabber to all original.

That way I can have both, and no one could tell it was a Maverick. Just you guys of course, ssshhh. :)

Thats what I have been planning on doing, drilling out all the spot welds and replaceing the tail panel. Just a matter of finding a good donor car. Not to many 2 door Comets around here.

I think the 4 door is a little wider or diffrently shaped. Could be wrong though. I'm sure someone here knows...

As far as I know they're exactly the same.

The body dimensions are the same except for the length of the car. :)

Well, hopefully I kind find a wrecked Comet. (y)

I sure would like to get the process of doing the clone under way. :)

Dang it! Wish I would have known they were the same! I've passed up 5 4 door Comet's in the junk yards. All of which have since been crushed. :slap: At least the hood from one of them will live on...

hey i ended up paying a grand total of $40 for my comet. plus i put a starter in my friends 1995 isuzu rodeo. what a pain in the butt. i was going to pay him $350 for it but then he needed a starter put in. man i like wheeling and dealing it always comes out in my favor. so i beat your $75 already.
