Based on the weight of Plum Crazy and my best guess of the wieght of the driver, I'm going to need about 1800 HP for my Mav to run as quick as Plum Crazy...with me in the car. Maybe Only 800 HP with my daugter Savannah driving.
My '74 Mav racecar(small bumper years appearing) weighs about 2620lb. It has all stock components, a rollbar(6pt), bench seat, back seat removed, 200" 6cyl/C4, 8" rear, drum brakes, no heater, wiper motor, fuel cell and original tank, Weld Draglites.
i added the roll cage because i wanted the weight to slow me down. i was running close to 11's and you needed a roll bar at 11.99 or quicker. the january after i put it in the changed the rule to 11.49.
well I am certainly not gonna "kiss" your a** I have no idea what you have, but I would certainly question your car weighing 1950 pounds........ Maybe it does, but it would have to be the lightest "door" car I have ever heard of.
There used to be a pair of '68 camaros running at the local strip...each one was carbon body, CM chassis lightest of everything and one was 1785 with driver, the other was 1760 with driver. They looked identical. What amazed me was that they had pretty mild small block Chevy engines and ran mid 5's in the 1/8 mile. I have no doubt that a door car can be that light because I've seen it first hand. Definitely not a street car though! Where can I find a complete carbon fiber Maverick body??
Plum Crazy is a tube chassis car and weighs 2275 without the driver. A 1950 lb. car would have to be a tube chassis with glass fenders, hood, doors, and deck lid; probably not have have bumpers, and have only one seat. A NHRA Pro Stock car weighs 2350 lbs. with the driver. A NHRA Funny car weighs 2425 lbs. with the driver. Some of your Pro-Modified cars are in the 1800 lb. range without the driver. Give us the details on the structure of your car.
