I've been wandering what alternatives there are to leaf-springs? I know about the two types of 4-link setups but the cost of installation kinda puts it out of my price range... has any ever tried a dual link setup? by using a rigid link (solid steel or rectangle steel or something of the sort) mounted from and using the front leaf bushing mount location and clamp in where and how the leaf-spring does on the axle? then figure a coil spring setup... I have seen something similar to this on a nascar that was being displayed localy. Thanks.

If you don't have a lot of money to spend on it (which you've already indicated), then stick with leaf-springs. They work fine when they are in good condition along with good bushings & shocks...

thing is, in a previous post I've mentioned I'm having a bushing issue which is causing my shackle to rub against the chassis.

Well, that can be fixed. You are having the problem with only one side, right? Obviously, the bushings are either bad, or they were improperly installed...

If the bushings are the wrong size, or improperly installed, you can experience problems. You should ALSO check the front bushing, as it could be causing the leaf-spring to "twist" and make the shackle rub the frame...

It would take major fabrication to install anything but another set of leaf springs. I know RRS is coming out with a 3 link set up but at around $3500.

That is why i got caltracs, and never even thought about anything more serious for my application.

$350 plus about 2 hours labor, helps to have access to a press. Otherwise, it is pretty much a bolt on affair, with decent results.

Yes but they are adjustable and allow you to pre load the springs in order to get your car to hook well without twisting itself in a knot when leaving the line on a hard launch.Well worth the 350 price tag.I have simple lakewoods on mine(had to lengthen them) 40 bucks, made a HUGE improvement in traction and launches.Leaf spring suspensions have their limitations but for a street car you dont really need much more.My mav makes about 340 horse and It works well.
