I found a decent valance as mine did not have on when I bought the car. I have a 72 Grabber. I noticed that there is a round hole with a square slotted bracket attached to the valance. This leads me to believe that a carraige bolt would be used. Is this correct and what size and length were the stock bolts.

it is not a carraige bolt...
it has a funky head on it that locks into the hole..i am sure you can use a different bolt but i have no suggestion of a size or kind...

About any Mustang shop has them for $4.00 each...they also have the next size up for one dollar. You will need to grind the square shank or open up the slot in your valance panel to save the dollars.

    Jeff:

Is that a pic of a Mustang bolt or a Maverick?

There the same, plus you'll need a screw kit for across the top.

I have found that a Maverick uses a smaller....but longer bolt than the Mustang. AMK sells them.

Hmmm, I thought I bought mine from NPD, but I could be wrong.

Just make your own out of a bolt and washer. Don't cost nothing. Works just fine for me and no one will ever see it.

Okay, I went to the best hardware store in Phoenix and bought the following:

    2 hex bolts
    2 washers
    2 speed nuts
    2 fender washers
    2 hex nuts

I slid the hes bolts and washers into the valance bracket holes from underneath and secured thiem with the speed nuts. Then I mounted the valance and used fender washers and hex nuts to secure the valance inside the trunk. This worked perfectly.

    Total cost: $2

Glad it worked out for you. Even if you were building an all original show car. No one would ever know it was not original.
