    Hey guys!

Been a while since I've posted. I still have my '73, but it hasn't left the garage in a couple of years. As I worked on it I found more and more work that needed to be done, and I don't have the skills, money or time.

So......I was driving by my work and saw a yellow Maverick with black Grabber stripes on the side of the road. I took a shot and knocked on the door. The next day I paid the man and took the title. I'm taking her home tonight:)

Original owner from NJ. I put some pics up. Looks like it may have been hit in the drivers fender at one point because the rubber hood stops have some overspray on them. Rest of the paint seems original. It has a 200 6 cylinder, interior is PERFECT except a small crack in the dash tray, no rips in the seats or headliner, Factory AC and PS.

I checked the tag on the door jam and its pretty faded, so I couldn't read the trim code. Is there any way I can find out if its a real Grabber from the VIN? Here are some pics. Maybe someone knows something I don't and and tell just by looking. There is no grabber hood, I know they didn't have them in 1970 and the spoiler is painted properly (black back and yellow on the top).

    Anyone have some input?

WOW that looks like a real nice 1970 Grabber. If I remember correctly the 70 model year there was no way to tell by the VIN # but I could be wrong, and I am sure someone will correct me if I am...

Looks like you got a very nice survivor there. There's just something special IMHO about a car that is made in the first year that model of car was on the market. I don't see anything particularly special about a 70 plain jane maverick but I have always thought it would be nice to own a really nice, well optioned 70 grabber with all the correct striping and hood markings and stuff. I would venture to say that not many 1970 Grabbers were ordered with Factory A/C since they were supposed to be a cheap economy car I would think most people that bought them could not afford a luxury item like A/C..

Congrats on the new (to you) car

Thanks! I dont think the guy really knew what he was selling.

I'm not sure what steering wheel you mean, but it seems like a standard wheel. I asked if he would include the "vintage" CLUB, but he said no:(

Sure looks like a Grabber to me. Check with Craig Selvey, he is the keeper of the 70 Grabber Registry.

    Information is on his site

looks like am early 70 grabber to me going by the rimblow wheel. that would indicate it was made in the first 3 months of grabber production I believe

Looks like the real deal. Nice car. I have relatives at the Jersey shore in Manasquan. I'm originally from Montclair.:)

I lived in Manasquan for 2 years. Now I'm in Freehold.

    Thanks for the compliments guys....

If it's a real Grabber then I may think twice about pulling the 302 out of my '73 and just keeping the '70 as is.

My Vote: Real Deal 1970 Grabber. Nice find! Hard to tell from picture ... but I think I see the Rim Blow rubber insert around the inside of the wheel ... BONUS!

I looked up the Rim Blow wheel and from what I saw it's a tri-spoke wheel. This one doesnt have it:( Would have been nice!

I decoded the VIN and if I'm reading it right the car was built in September.
