I was notified today that my brake light were out. I checked my fuse box but was unable to read the panel box clearly to detrmine which fuse is for the brake lights. Question #1 is there a diagram of the fuse box on this site. Question #2 Is there a contact switch behind the brake pedal that engagaes the brake lights. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

There is a brake lite switch mounted along with the rod that goes on the brake pedal. It is always hot. Jump the connector wires together and see if the lights light up.

I'll give that a try, thanks for the information. At some point we will have to get together, we live to close. I was up at Marley Station Mall for the cruise-in pretty nice turn out.

I go there almost every Saturday. Usually I ride my bike but this Saturday I may take the Sprint. If you cant get your lights to work you could always come here and I'll give you a hand.

I noticed that my signal lights are not working either, I put in a new signal light switch a few weeks ago, it was one of those flimsy type ones from Advanced Auto. I wonder if these wires are connected ( brake and signal light) in anyway.

Your brake lights go through your turn single switch. That way when you put on your turn signal, it brakes the contact from the brake light for which ever side your turning, and connects it to the flasher circuit.

That explains why I don't have brake lights when I changed the turn signal switch I started having these problems. I just don't like the way the switch I bought is designed very, very flimsy and the contact wire doesnot seem to be the same. I will try to find one of better quality and see what happens.

Thanks again for your knowledge. TonyJ

That's exactly what I thought I was doing. The first thing that struck me was it was not as sturdy or for lack of a better word "beefy" as the original one from my Maverick.

I did the same thing - replaced the signal cam, now...
Turn signals still don't work right, they stay on without blinking.
brake lights are on constantly when the light switch is on, no change when I hit the brake pedal.
    Hazard lights work right though.
I think I'll pull it all out an start over. I noticed a small flat piece of metal about 1/8th inch by 1 inch, thin as paper, that fell on the floor when I pulled the steering wheel hub. Luckily I kept it.
