Kind of an impulse buy on this one, just too good of a deal to pass up. Guy I work with has been using it as a daily driver for quite a while, but he just picked up a newer Suburban. He offered it to me for 600 bucks, and I drove it home. It's a '72 C10 with a 350/auto. Has power disc brakes, power steering, A/C, runs and drives great. Just needs a driver side exhaust manifold. Truck is pretty much 100% original including the paint, previous owner cut the springs to lower it down, rides like an old log wagon, but it looks cool. Has it's share of dings and dents, a little rust in the cab corners and some pinholes in the rockers, but great shape other then that. Just going to cruise it around for now, I know I could double if not triple my money on it very easily.
Wish we had trucks like that up here. That truck as it sits would bring 3-4 grand up here no problem.
If I were to buy a Chevy pickup, that would be my choice. Dad had a 71 with a 250 I6 3 on the three that I learned to drive a manual shift in. Always liked the 71-72 best of that body style, especially the swb models and the swb stepsides. Never cared for the coils out back though. GMC's those model years got leafs out back. Looks like a fun cruiser or work truck.
Bobby, you'll love the '86 F150 my dad picked up this evening to drive until his Mustang is back on the road. SWB, 5.0 with a 4 speed O/D manual, has a crappy repaint, but pretty decent old truck overall. Will get pics of it up tomorrow.
Very nice truck , I would have liked to have found something like then when I was looking for a truck but I guess it turned out okay it isn't a classic but I got a 93 Dodge, well at least it's a 4x4 like I wanted.
Yeah, I'm kinda partial to the 80-86 Fords, too. They haven't really attracted a following yet like the bump sides and dent sides, but I think they will.
I just crushed 3 of those about 2 weeks ago... I could have sent you some springs or other parts you needed. I picked up 3 from a guy for $300 and scrapped them. 2 had been wrecked and the other was totoally apart and had started to restore it but I didnt want to find interior and stuff for it and put it back together, so I made cash by scraping them I don't see it happening, but who knows. That is my least favorite of all the ford trucks, but to each their own. It's also the only body style I haven't owned personally. Owned from 66 on up to 97 body style
Rod let go in the engine on the way up to NC for Christmas yesterday. Excellent way to start off your Christmas morning. I just kept on driving with it billowing smoke out the back and vibrating really bad, in hopes of making it to some sort of civilization. That didn't happen. It made it about 4 miles and then overheated to the point that it completely seized up, and I coasted off on some little side road. Lesson learned. I'll never buy another Chevrolet. Should have learned my lesson the first time. Question now is, do I drop another 350/700R4 I have in it, or go with a SBF like my die-hard Ford family thinks I should do? :evilsmile
