need help customize dash

    have a 70 maverick and i dont want my new gauges just in or under the dash i think they would look so much better in the dash So has anybody customized a dash with recessed gauges if so what kind of pods (one or two) did you use or did you make them any info would be helpful. :tiphat:

    I don't recall who did it but I have seen guages mounted "in" the dash by cutting a hole in the dash with a large hole saw and welding in some short angled pieces of steel pipe, or I guess you could use plastic and JB weld them in.

    They were a big enough diameter that the guage mounted in the pipe and the pipe was cut at an angle so the guage faces were angle toward the driver.

    Factory holes improved with new tubes(PVC) then modern gauges and accessory lights and signals wired in manually? I considered buying neat gauge clusters and trying to find one that matched and could be made to work. Regal I think was the one I was considering trying first.
    With some dremel skills and glassing I bet the skies the limit! The gauge pod hole in our dashes is certainly large enough to be creative.
