I sure miss that, we had a couple places in town. During the day it was Columbia park, muscle cars and bikinis everywhere. Evenings it was Court Street in Pasco until the riots then it moved to Clearwater in Kennewick. I was cited for criminal trespassing one night and we weren't even there to cruise. I had met a friend for a taco and we left in my car to go watch movies at my girlfriends. When we were done we went to drop him off at his car and as soon as we pulled in they were on us. Judge wouldn't listen to our side so we were on probation for a year before it was dropped. That's when I started going to the street races!
I can't believe that was over twenty years ago. Seems like yesterday, except I didn't have anything that nice back then...
I was driving a 71 super beetle, that I had crashed the front end into the rear of a pinto, bent back to where I could align the front end, but still had to tie the hood down, and painted in daisies, zebra stripes, and a huge peace sign on the top. Seriously. Just something to get me home from college on the weekends. I need to find a picture of that car...
I was advised by the State Department not to travel in Jan/Feb because "The Gulf War" was imminent (was doing overseas business while with ABB). Had just sold my 68 Z28 (after complete restoration) to a guy in Sweden, my dad had just passed away and I had my first Maverick some 17 years earlier. In 1991 I was 44.......some of you guys are just babies..........no disrespect meant................it's just that most of you are soooooooooo young, or maybe I've lived a lot of life in the past 66 years!
Wow, I cruised High Street in Pottstown a couple of times during that era. I was REALLY hoping to see me in my old maverick cruise by in the video! Do you have any more????
Thats cool I cruised/street raced my 71 comet with a 351w in Pottstown back in 91. I remember some of those cars. That was a crazy hoppin car town back then.
Good times in Pottstown! I think I recognized a few of those cars. Watching that video really makes me miss Summer now.
Yeah it was cool. I picked a street race with a 340 cuda that was running slicks on the street. Lets just say I won a few bucks that night. Back then the street racers hung at the pep boys lot on High St.
