Im curious what made you buy your comet or maverick?

I bought my comet because I always wanted a maverick BUT I never knew about comets.
as soon as I saw my comet listed on craigslist I knew it was destined to be mine. I loved it from the second I laid eyes on it. I was hoping the seller didnt see the IM GETTING THIS CAR NO MATTER WHAT look on my face

I wanted a car that was older to work/tinker with, it had to be Ford/Merc and be something different. Maverick was always on my mind, and when I found this one, I knew it was the car for me. Haven't done as much as I want to, but, it's mine and paid for and I can work on when I want to. Plus....its fun to drive!!

Was in the navy...New to the duty station and needed a car... 750.00 for a stick V-8 Maverick seemed like a fair price at the time (1986) I still have it... The rest is history.

January 1973, I actually went after work to put a down payment on a '63 Impala SS I saw at lunch time. It was sold by time I went back but the guy said he thought there was another one at a nearby car lot. Didn't see another Impala at the second lot but there was the Maverick. Only 2 1/2 years old, with chrome slotted wheels, Mustang hood scoop, Shelby tail lights. At the time I worked at the local college and the original owner of the car was a student there. My trade-in was a '63 Nova that I had to almost push onto the lot.

I was very active in the maverick scene until 2009 and pretty much sold out once I got into drag racing. A couple months ago I was looking on craigslist and happened to find my current maverick at a price I couldn't turn down

I blew up my daily driver so I thought I would look for something older that didn't need smog. One of my best buddies, who just passed away, had a Comet and that gave me the idea to look for a Maverick. I was looking at other cars too and actually thought I would end up with something like a Dodge Dart. I found my rust free Grabber, at a very good price, and when I saw her I knew she was the one. I then decided to start building her into a muscle car...can you say bye bye daily driver!?

i was 9 years old when i saw my first maverick, my dad bought it for 300 bucks from a 90 year old lady. it was a 73 four door with the 302 in it. i remeber riding in that all the time and my dad always talked that when i got older we were gunna fix it up together..... unfortunately 2 years later he died of a heart attack while he was riding his motorcycle through the black hills.... after that i wanted to rebuild that car in his memory, but it was never meant to be. a couple years after he died there was a big wind storm and a tree fell over the front of the car, it could be fixed but i was devestated.... thats when something awesome happened, the following summer i was riding my bike through a part of town i never really rode through before and thats when i found my baby. in someones driveway was sitting a 1976 ford maverick 2 door, it was white with custom blue shelby stripes on it.... i fell in love instantly and asked if the man wanted to sell it, after some talking (and with a little help of his wife who wanted it gone lol) i bought it for 200 bucks and drove it home.... she has been my baby ever since and now that im 20 i have been doing a ton of work on it and cant wait to get it done!

back in '87 my dad traded some hunting guns and equipment for a '71 4 door green maverick. I rolled it a year or so later. Later in life, I wanted a classic car. Figured a Maverick was kinda fitting since it was my first car.

Was looking through some old pictures and came across one of my Maverick I bought in 1980 and sold in 1985. Wondered if anyone was still into them and found this sight. You sickos talking about your cars made me want one of my own again. :D Bought my Comet about two years later.
