^^^ Thanks guys!! I think he is going to use the springs on his Grabber and leave this one stock height.
Very nice car! Glad you are going back to Magnums (but I am a highly-biased opinion there anyway ... lol). Moving up to 15s is even better ... just look at mine .... scaled really nice for a car this size. I had 14s for a long time myself and 15s look a lot more substantial.
Thanks!! The black in the center of the Magnums seems to look better with all the yellow and black on the car. The 14" Magnums that are on the car now are in pretty decent shape, but the tires are mis-matched and they have a Mustang center cap. With figuring the price of the Mercury head center caps ($130) and what we think we can sell the 14" Magnums for we figured now would be the time to upgrade to the 15's.
I wonder if this is the same car someone was asking about and wouldn't buy because of the discs??? Wasn't that long ago, maybe two months...
Just got the Marti Report a few minutes ago. It confirms the car is a real Comet GT. We were pretty sure, but you never know until you get the report!
I don't remember the disc thing, but this car was talked about when it was for sale. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=96456 A very nice car, indeed. And, see Tom? I'm not the ONLY one that thought this Comet GT would look nice sitting in a garage beside a Grabber!!
Thanks! I had seen that thread, but was wondering about a thread about the disc brakes. According to the Marti Report the car didn't have optional power steering when new, so someone must have added it over the years along with the disc brakes. BTW, here are some build date and numbers from the Marti Report. Ordered: 10/20/70 Serialized: 11/6/70 Built: 11/18/70 Are there any earlier documented 302 Comets or Comet GT's? I also agree it looks nice in the garage next to my '72 Grabber.
I checked, the one I was thinkin' about was a Maverick, and a '72... Guess I should have checked before I made the post... From Paul's VIN list there are many earlier V8 '71 Comets but none are listed as GT... The first one was serialized something like 10,000 units earlier... 1K31F514027 -EB140911881459 1K31T518214 -cometking 1K31F520807 -EB281166249563 1K31F521040 -EB281091951358 1K30F523853 -EB181123351189
Thanks for checking! I should have checked the list for the 302's. I remembered the discussion in the other thread about this car could possibly be one of the first 302 Comet GT's produced.
Thanks!! We just got the brand new 15x7 Magnum 500's and 235/60/15 tires mounted and put on the car yesterday.
