My goal WAS to have it done by the end of 2013 marking 30 years I've had the car. I got it when I was a kid from my great grandmother in 1983 but didn't drive it much. It sat covered up since the 90s. Not making a fast car or anything. I just want it back drivable with the factory powertrain combo...250/C4. I figured I could get it back road worthy for a couple grand, but I found more rust than I expected and also found Maverick parts aren't always cheap. I haven't kept a tab, but I figure I'm into it now for around 3-4K. It is driveable now, but I need to get my quarters fixed and paint the car.
My goal is to just keep limping it along until I can get my '80 Capri RS together to drive for a while. The already well used 200 I6 I put in it a couple years ago is about done. I'm at 202,647 miles driven since 2005 as of this morning. The body has somewhere north of 430k on it and has pinholes in the torque boxes and minor rust throughout, not to mention wrecks it's been in over the years. Haven't really decided what I'm going to do with it, long term.
Just finished building the rear end for my Maverick about a year ago. New heads were next because I had just completed the piston swap for a compression bump and the old ones were already off, anyways. I thought, "Finally, gonna get her all wrapped up." Felt good. Then, I picked up a '78 Bronco that I was gonna build for a daily driver, exactly, one year ago. That "small project" has turned into a complete frame-off and I just sunk $3,500 into building the motor for it. Damn. That could have been my heads and a new interior for the Maverick. So, there the Maverick motor sits... a short block right next to the completed Bronco motor. My goal: keep on keepin' on. Eric
a few goals that presented themselves today are front end alignment replace floor shifter yank out column and get a new one in and track down CLUNK from front end. oh and get longer seat belts. I swear if I was 5 pounds heavier I wouldnt be able to get the belt around me lol
Do you have a smart phone? If so there is a great app called i align, and if you load it on your phone you can do camber and caster..........and really get very close to whatever you need, factory or custom settings. I used it on the Maverick and was very close............just using my iPhone.
Mine is pretty much done. Now its a matter of changing things like the gearing etc. ( No more 411s) Nothing like doing things over and over. Like others have said you just never stop.

hell mines a runner now, been driving it around past few days. have a total of 900 bucks in it,(and yes i bought it.. off a car lot!) . It needs new wheels and tires badly, so ordered the rims today and the tires next mo. after it has all new shoes the immediate 'goal' is done for a while. (ie: safety). long term will be mostly suspension upgrades (lots of them, i want it to be a handler) and some minor motor upgrades. wifes 72 will be more of a driver/hot rod. goal on that one will be 350-375-ish HP , reliable and just a nice looker. keeping it simple.

I'd like to it to a running and driving stage in the next couple of months, but what used to take a couple of months will probably take me a year. * figure out where I'm getting air in my brakes * electric fan * alignment * emergency brake * clutch activated safety switch * power rack & pinion
