I know there are plenty of threads about using say bullit wheels with the mavericks. the general consesus is that a lot of spacers are needed to accomplish this.

well, i've been reading that the new 05+ stangs have more backspacing on their wheels, something like 45 vs the sn95 mustang wheels at 30.

does anyone know anything about this? Would these be a much better wheel to use with the maverick? would I still need spacers?

    Yep, still need spacers.

You are going to need spacers either way. I've had both stock '95 GT wheels on my '74 Grabber and '05 GT wheels, both had at least an inch and a half to much back spaceing in the rear, and close to an inch to much in the front. Personally, if I were going to run newer Mustang wheels, I would put a wider rear end in the car so that you don't need spacers on the back, and then use the smallest spacers possible in the front with longer studs. That's just me, though.

I have an '06 Mustang GT and the Bullitt wheels have an extra 1/2" backspacing more than the '04 wheels that I have on my Comet. On my Comet, I have 7/8" spacers. There is a company on Ebay that sells Bullitt wheels for 65-73 Mustangs, here is the link- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-BLACK-WHEELS-RIM-MUSTANG-65-66-67-68-69-70-71-72-73_W0QQitemZ330064760291QQihZ014QQcategoryZ43957QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. They will fit just right. I have the stock Mustang 245/45-17 tires and there is plenty of room.

Old Mustangs generally use slightly more BS than Maverick rims.
    It's not a lot more... maybe .5".
An old Stang can squeeze 4.5" to 4.75" BS, the Mav gets iffy after 4" to 4.25" BS.
    Just a heads up!

The rims in that link have 4.5" BS.
Most guys I have seen post here get into the leaf springs with 4" to 4.25" BS.
I think I have only seen one member that claimed to use 4.5" BS...
    Buyer beware.

My car has wheels with 5.72" backspacing and I have 7/8" spacers, which gives me a total backspacing of about 4.80" I have absolutely no clearance problems at all. If you run a FRONT wheel that is less than 17" with that same backspacing you may have a clearance issue on the upper ball joint. I have plenty of room on the rear . . . it isn't even close to the leafsprings. The backspacing on the wheels, if it is 4.5", should be no problem. However, a 15" wheel with 4.5" backspacing may hit the upper ball joint.

My 16 inch Torque Thrust II's are 4.50 back spaceing. It's close, but they do fit and I drove the car for like a week with them on there and never had a problem with them rubbing anything.

Ok, let's do a worst case type scenario. Say I get these wheels, and they rub, then what?
