My passenger side sport mirror cable is a lot longer than my drivers side. How do you mount this, ie where do you run it to? and where do you run it through to get there? Thanks.:bananaman gotta have the banana man!
Hmmm.... ...I don't have a remote operated side mirror for my passenger side mirror on the Comet GT. IF you do not have a car that came with that sport mirror, I'm guessing you don't, then you probably have not got a hole at the mirror mounting spot from the factory to run the cable through. IF you do, the one on my old Mustang II was mounted beside the radio. Similar sport mirrors but I do believe that they are different. If you do have a hole for the cable, I am still guessing that it is intended to be mounted near the radio so that the driver could reach it. Unless I am wrong, and I have never seen one, these cars did not come with passenger side remote adjustments. Which means you have sport mirrors probably from some other Ford/Mercury vehicle. I wish you luck. Seth
It's likely a Mustang II mirror. Like was said, it mounts on the dash next to the radio. Craig is right about the Mav mirrors and I don't recall any other mid-size or compacts that had remote passenger mirrors either, other than the Mustang II, as far back as the sport mirrors went back to the late '60s.
I may be mistaken here, but I kind of remember my Mothers Mercury Monach had a remote passenger side sport mirror. I remember a toggle switch mounted near the radio that I could swear was for the mirror. It's been a long time and I didn't drive the car much, so I could wrong about this. Didn't the more expensive Fords and Mercurys have remote pass. mirrors? I'm thinking like the LTD's and the Marquis.
Just a related question...my passenger side sport mirror is loose and the glass moves when I hit bumps. How do you tighten this thing up. I took it off, but couldn't see how it is done. Thanks in advance, Earl
If the glass is bouncing around then the pivet ball is worn out. I know of no way to tighten them up other than replacing the mirror. Mine used to bouce all over the place and I could never thighten it up. Then one day I drove over some railroad tracks and the whole thing fell out. You don't need to replace the mirror shell, just the insides of it.
yes granadas and monarchs had them too, they were mounted under the dash just above the tranny tunnel, some granadas and monarchs have all the bells and whistles you could think of..
earl, my mirrow on my grabber was loose and the glass was busted. mustang central said a replacement was $100 bucks. there were two screws holding the glass in. i took it out and went to riverside glass in macon,ga. and they cut a new piece and glued it in. i put it on and as good as new. it cost $15 bucks. they also got me a new windowsheild for $160 bucks. hope this helps...frank...
Hmm somebody lied on Ebay. Punk, they advertised the mirrors as Maverick sport mirror and look just like my bros, but one has a remote adjustment. oh well. Thanks everybody. :bananaman
Frank; the glass on my mirror is good, it is just that it is loose, and moves around when I hit a bump. I guess I need to find another mirror, even if it is not perfect, and get the insides out of it to go into my shell, since it is in very good shape. Will keep on looking, and let you know. BTW, thanks for the info on the glass place. I need to get the gasket sealed up..again..by someone that can pump seal it. Thanks again, Earl
hmm, i too have a remote sport mirror that i removed from a maverick in a junk yard. I wonder what possessed someone to put it on there?
