My Sprint is fine although definatly has a few new paint dings in the quarters. This was the best Roundup yet. We always say it cant get any better, but it always does. The cars are great but the people are what really makes it all worth the effort to attend.

I went just on Saturday and talked with a couple of owners (I haven't had a Maverick in 24 years!). Great show, beautiful cars, nice people - makes me want to find another Maverick!

For those that have been emailing me, I want to thank you for your concern and let you know the Bronco made it home just fine. For those that didnt hear, about 100 miles from home, the rear started to roar so loud it sounded like it was about to grenade. I ended up removing the drive shaft, locked in the front, and drove the rest of the way on the front axle, about another 450 miles including going through the mountains. Then I couldnt get a Jasper rear while there so I drove it home this way. I dont know if Ford designed the front axle to tow about 6500 lbs but it can. What can I say, " Built Ford Tough"

    Turnout for previous years?

35 Mavericks sounds like a pretty good turnout, what has it been the last few years?

It has been as low as 10 about 7 years ago. 2 years ago we had 14, with 4 or those cars belonging to one person/family (Wilbur Green). Last year we had 24.

Before I forget and this thread gets buried.....I wanted to thank everybody who came out, and I wanted to thank you all for the kind words about the Round-Up Nationals .

It was a lot of fun, and no matter what direction the MCCI takes in the future, rest assure that there WILL be a Round-Up Nationals next year!!

I would like to add....this is our National show for the MCCI...with something for everybody. We had drag racing, a day cruise, a banquet, a car show....but mostly a lot of FUN...for us Maverick/Comet owners and their FAMILIES. It was just a gathering of people with similar interest having fun together.

The part I liked the best was all the cars parked together. Sure, some cars were nicer than others, but nobody cared. I saw just as many people looking at the "diamonds in the rough" as were looking at the Best of Show winner. Some might have been shocked at the fact that we had judging at all....but this is our
National show, we are an International Club, and it was a "car show". Like all car clubs that have a National show...there was judging.....but as I said at the show, the judging and the awards is only about 7% of what the entire weekend is all about. That is why the Best of Show award is the same size as the 8th or 9th place award. If anything, no matter what award one received, just consider it a token for all your hard work you all have put into your Mavericks/Comets.

So....thanks again for coming and supporting YOUR Maverick/Comet Club!!!
