Does anyone have any info on this swap? I cant really find anything on the web, besides this: http://www.tffn.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=634&view=previous 99% of everything else is based on 65 and older falcons, which are different than 66+ I know the basics like frame mounts, how to install the engine,etc.... I'm more concerned on the things like the driveshaft, like if the 6 will work with the 8 cylinder. The car was originally a 289 model, but during its life someone decided to toss in a 200 in there. But luckily it still has a bunch of V8 parts still in it. Like the 5 lug, and 8" rear. Any info on this swap is appreciated.
The '66-'69 Falcon chassis is identical to the '66-'69 Fairlane/Torino. The engine swap itself requires the engine mount brackets that bolt to the chassis from a donor car. 289, 302, 351w & 351c use one type, while 390, 427, & 428 use another. A small block radiator will bolt right in, but a big block radiator will need new mounts. Front springs are available new or used. You didn't mention what transmission is in it, but if you are retaining the same transmission and rear end, the driveshaft should work fine. Originally a 6-cylinder car used a different accelerator linkage. Is the v8 linkage still in the car, or was that changed?
Thanks for the info! The transmission is a C4 it was rebuit a couple years back. Engine will be a bone stock 5.0L, so hopefully it'll survive with just a bell housing swap. If not I have a 71 V8 C4 core that I've been saving up. I'm not sure what linkage is on it, it doesn't look Micky Moused though, so I'm guessing the 6 was swapped. The shop next door is a Lokar vendor, so I'm sure I can get a universal one if this one doesn't work. But thanks for reminding me, I totally forgot about the linkage. The turbo bug has also been bugging me if it was EFI I would do a turbo instead. But right now a V8 swap is looking ten times better than messing with a turbo'd carb setup and all the headaches that come with it.
