Hi I'm new to the forum and have been working on a 1970s Ford maverick. I've been considering swapping for either an LS or a titan but am uncertain of which is the better option and what all I'd have to do/consider with each option. I have an ls and a titan the LS come out of the early to late 2000s Chevy Tahoes and the titan is from a 98 Ford. Any suggestions or links to other threads is welcome.

Without cutting the Triton won't begin to fit.

May want to do something about those wheels first.

Frank (71gold) has an LS in his Maverick, so he would know what is involved...

My suggestion is neither, but it is yours to do with as you please. The LS would probably be the easier of the two.

The Ford 3v is 7" wider than a 302, in an engine bay which isn't particularly happy with the 351w that's 3" wider. The LS is very close dimensionally to what came in the car. It's also much cheaper per hp, or to build at all for that matter.

If you are a novice or not handy with doing this all yourself, you will find this to be a very expensive road to go down. Not a simple bolt in. Will require lots of modifications and things to figure out.
