I put a new solenoid on my car hoping it would start, just to find that the next part on the line is the small electrical box on the passenger side of the engine bay. it has a small plugin and 4 terminals, one of which has power , and presumably the other 3 should be getting power. however when I turn the key it shows no interior lights, no power in the lines connected to my brand new solenoid and no power to the starter. is there any way to fix this box? it seems to be sealed and is very light.

    Huh???

The regulator won't keep the engine from starting... It's sole purpose is regulate the voltage from alternator to prevent over charging of battery, can toss it across the street and engine WILL start... Of course that may be only a few times as the battery will no longer be charged without it...

Sounds like you may have a open fuse link in the wiring that connects to solenoid...

Your car has sat for ten years. Wires could be chewed up by mice. You need to really go over all the wiring.
