    1972 maverick 250 auto:

Car runs fine when driving and now all of a sudden when you stop the car dies. Then starts right back up. Any ideas.

Could be a lot of things....like maybe the float level is too high and when you stop some gas sloshes into the engine. Maybe it just needs a good tune up. Could try sprayign some carb cleaner down the carburetor and into the bowl (through the vent).

Check all the vacuum lines, there may something disconnected or maybe a small hole in a line that you cannot see. This is the most likely scenerio. Also check and test the vacuum advance mechanism.

Yeah, I've had the same problem. I have been succesfully with cleaning the carb and with adjusting the fuel/air screw. I had it too far and too much fuel was flooding the engine. Now, things are cool.
