I had the original 302 rebuilt and put back in. Replaced distributor, ignition module, and coil. Ran for a bit then died. No spark while cranking. 12 volts at + side of coil. 10 v when cranking. Has duraspark II set up. Sparks only when ignition switch is turned on or off but not while cranking. Neutral safety switch checks out ok with ohm meter.

Greetings. I have read most of posts for my problem. I forgot to note that if I spin distributor by hand I get a perfect spark. With distributor out of engine. When I install it I am back to single spark when key turned on and off. Any ideas?

I also replaced negative cable and cleaned grounding points.

could it be the ignition switch, broken/out of adjustment?

I have been leaving ignition switch in on position and using remote starter switch off battery and starter solenoid to eliminate that as problem. Gonna double check tolerances on distributor and module today. I have power to coil before and during cranking. Has to be trigger from distributor. Unless engine has to turn faster to initiate spark as when I spin it by hand off of motor and it works fine.

When checking voltage to ignition module in previous post I'm getting 10 volts which exceeds the 4.9-7.9v it is supposed to have. Where is the resistance wire mentioned?

The resistor is part of harness between switch and firewall connector... Not likely it's bad, about only failure is totally open... This means the coil isn't drawing current which is why you have 10v... I can't remember for sure but I do know there is a feed from switch into module that supplies full battery voltage while cranking... Also there have been reports of bad modules that produce spark at switch on/off but are still bad, unable to convert the input from dist to a pulse that fires the coil...

So the ignition module I purchased (airtex part #6h1096) has a 2 wire connection which comes with brochure claiming it will work. It does not!!!put old module in and it works.
