Here is another tease from MotorMax...

Sadly, it looks like they are nixing the Comet GT for now due to Ford's strict approval standards.:bs: I have been told there was a problem with the bucket seats and stick shift...:hmmm:

Anyway, here is a pic of the 1:24 1974 Maverick...

I thought this was cool too... Now we ALL can do the tail light conversion. LOL!!!

thanks for the update. can't wait to find one. but on the Bobcat, the link says 1:87 scale..... i dont think the tail-light conversion would work, lol. thanks again for keeping us up-to-date (y)

The Maverick looks like Crap compared to the detail of the Bobcat ...

Edit: LOL ... on second look .... the Bobcat is a pic of a REAL car! :)

Still ... why didn't they just ruin the project all together and make it a 4-door? We were all expecting a 71/72 Maverick Grabber .... and they end up making a Big-Bumper plain-jane 2-door? What is this company thinking?

i just got an email back from them about 30 minutes ago. here's what they mentioned about the 1:24 scale....

Thank you for the support, and be sure to look for the 1/24 Maverick in
    the
    market later this year.
I estimate most Wal-Mart Stores will have this model by late June.

    Regards

Late June!? wasnt the original date supposed to be back in November, and then it was moved up to feb. I would think they would just use the comet mold they have now and produce a nonGT comet just like the non-grabber maverick. and whats with the big bumper car? I dont really mind since i was going to try to mod it to look like my own car anyway but i really didnt expect it. is the comet going to be a big bumper car as well?

thats the way the toy car business goes, motor max is really taking on some off the wall projects.. but as a unpopuler 70's car lover im not complaining

just found that 1/87 bobcat tonight got the pinto wagon for christmas.. also got a 84 tempo.. and a few others.... see the 64th scale vega, 71 mustang, and a chevette.... im crossing my fingers they do 75-80 granadas and monarchs in the near future:thumbs2:

:bs: :badwords: Sometimes Ford really SUCKS. You would think a company in the shape they are in would try to please their Customers.

They did a nice job on the Pinto's, Gremblins, Pacers .... I'll hold judgement on the Mavericks but they look lame. What's amazing is that they ASKED for our input on what the toy should be ... and they ignored every single one of our requests and suggestions ...

I think this company is a frickin' riot! Everyone else makes the typical Mustangs & Camaros & whatever. They're making stuff I NEVER thought I'd see. I mean, who the heck wants a 1979 Chrysler LeBaron woodie wagon? How cool is that?

Big-bumper 4 door Maverick? That would be so cool. I'll take any Maverick in die cast, I don't care what configuration they make. What a blast! Bravo Motor Max! Bring 'em on!

agreed. they just really had my hopes up when the november release was announced and then again with the feb arival date. i guess what matters is that they are actually making them. what was the last big maverick someone ever produced? some model kit from the late 70's?
