My dad has a 1980 tr7 convertable. It has a 351w with iron heads and an aluminum intake. It has a c6 tranny and 8 inch rear. It still has the factory dash but the carpet is gone and has one seat. It has a homemade cage in it. It has 4 steel wheels. We argue on what it weighs constantly it seems. He says it weighs 2250 and I say 2500. A t bucket will weigh 1900lb easy so I don't see the tr7 being nowhere near that light. Just figured I would get your opinions
Could you run it to a scrap iron place with some scrap metal in it then dump out the metal and when u weigh the second time you could see the exact weight
I was wrong, 2469 on a 79 convertible.... http://auto-specs.zercustoms.com/t/triumph/1979-triumph-tr7-convertible-specifications.html For an actual weight, you'd need to know the weight of a 351W and C6- the weight of the 4 cyl 4 speed it came with. My guess is the 351W C6 is about 300 lbs heavier than the factory engine and tranny, so 2469 + 300 = 2769, less than 100 lbs from what I stated before. I think I got that weight from a for sale ad for a TR7 with a 350 Chevy and turbo 350.
