So my friend wants me to get her more power in her stang. Been talking about my maverick alot and I think it got her wheels turning. Any Ideas? It's a 2002 with a 232 V6 (I think a 232, definitely the V6). Bigger engine is not an option - money is a big issue. She still has a warranty so it can't void that (which makes it hard). I was thinking junkyard turbo if it wouldn't void the warranty. Do performance fuel injectors make a feelable difference? 4-barrel carb isn't an option either :hmmm:. Anybody got any tricks? Crazy, backwards, high off you a** backyard/junkyard mods work too as long as it can keep the warranty.

Ford makes a supercharger kit for the V-6...Not cheap but...

yea, It would need to be cheap. (college student). I was looking more for something that could be pulled from a junkyard or gotten on ebay. I know there is the Magnuson-MossWarranty Act to protect the warranty with the addition of aftermarket parts, but then I'd have to go with her every time she went to get serviced. And they'd still probably try and find a way to void it. Rather just not take the risk. Would a larger throttle body help at all? and then I could just keep the stock one to put back on when she needs servicing.

yea, I know. I agree. But a pretty little thing wanting alittle more juice from her ride... who can argue with that? I've never had to deal with warranty issues before (always driven beaters:dance:). I'll look at her warranty when she brings it to me and see what all is covered. I'd hate for her to get voided cuz of something I did, but she's so cute when she says she wants more power that I kinda wanna do something. Right now I don't even wanna touch her tailpipe with that warranty peering over my shoulder.

Put a K&N filter on it, the noise will make her think it has more power.

THAT'S the type of thinking I like!! Hurrah to you good sir! A couple of things like that should keep her going until the warranty runs out and we can have some fun. (y)

Could be some lost power due to dirty injectors.
Other than that a K&N and maybe exhaust.

Phil's list of mods to check against warranty so far:
    1) Performance injectors
    2) K&N Cold air intake (I like their pledge about protecting warranties with their products. anyone ever had any experience with this? I've heard that dealers will sometimes try to blame cold air intakes to void a warranty)
3)Exhaust (does it help performance or just noise level - we live in a college town where every dude with $40 and a small shifter has a 3" pipe on their car - or one of the glasspack doohickies) If it adds to performance I'm down, but if it's just for sound I'm sure there are other more unique sounds to make.

I like this list so far. I wish she just didn't get the extended warranty so then we can turbo the sucker.

Is it possible to re-flash the computer? change shift points, etc?

does changing the shift points cause any additional wear on the engine or transmission (it's an automatic)? She really just needs some more acceleration and that would probably help. God knows she doesn't need to have a faster top speed lol. I don't know what re-flashing the computer is.
