The engine mounts on my 250 are in really rough shape, and I'm planning for this to be the first thing I tackle on the car. Can I use a floor jack with a 2x6 (or similar) wood block between it and the engine to lift the engine up from underneath, or is that going to damage the oil pan? I've seen some heated debate on other forums about this, but it was all centered around heavier V8 engines.
I've done it like that before. Just make sure the wood is cut a little above the length of the oil pan. Also loosen up the transmission mount.
