When I removed the toploader 3 speed on the column from the '74, it had a wire connection that I thought was for the Backup/Reverse lights but they still work when shifted to reverse on column without connecting the wire.. Reverse light switch must be in the 3OTT column?

How/ what function does the tranny connection wire to the 3 speed tranny's shift detents perform?. the car still starts and reverse lights still work with it disconnected .

(Does it short the ignition to ground in neutral ?)

    thanks

If it looks like this...it's stuff for the seatbelt switch.

Aha , The '74 had already had the seatbelt interlock somehow disconnected and never thought of that .

Curious to take a look at the elec' schematic and see how the switch works within the interlock system.

    thanks

... so the switch senses what?, presume senses tranny in gear/not neutral ?, what happens with belts, what's the and/ or logic ?. As mentioned my 74 system is somehow disconnected - I presume.

    have fun

In the photo Jeff posted, the switch on the right is the Seat Belt Warning Sensor,..... the switch on the left for the single wire is the Trans. Spark Control.
I assume the seat belt warning sensor just activated the buzzer once the vehicle was in gear.... I have no clue as to the function of the spark control switch.
