'74 Mav in question, 250 with an automatic.

Wanting to go to a 302, with a 'stang T5 behind it.

Any problems putting a stick into a Maverick? It's my girl's car (yes, SHE wants the stick shift) and we're doing a complete restification to it. so I'm wondering if anyone out there has a pic of a stick shift in their Mav/Comet, and wouldn't mind posting so I can get an idea of where the shifter comes up in the car.

Also, The motor mounts are different between the 250 and 302, correct? Is it hard to swap a V8 where an I6 once sat?

    My car was an I6 with a column shift, now it's a 302 with a T5.

An easy swap. Mavericks offered both sixes and 302 V8s in 1974, same chassis.

I have installed a top loader four speed (the overdrive type offered in Granadas) in my 1976. I don't have a picture or the means to put one on the Internet, but let's say that it comes out the same place where the three speed shifter would with the Grabber option, in a comfortable place to reach. It's similar to a 1970 Mustang, like a lot of the rest of the car is. Now, with a T5, the shift lever will be in about the same place, but you may want an extended shift lever (try California Pony Cars) as the T5 lever is short because of the different seating position in late model Mustangs.

The motor mounts are different, and the brackets they fit on. You'll need to get the V8 brackets from a boneyard.

    the T5 lever is short

That's true, but the T5's shifter tower and shift rod will probably stick up above the tranny tunnel, it did on mine. That's why I have the large boot you see in my picture above. Late model Mustangs have consoles to house this. Later Mavs have larger tunnels but you'll probably still have to modify the top of the tunnel.
