I'm building a '63 Galaxie with a 390 in it (model kit). Anyone able to tell me what color they (the engine) were from the factory? I'm hearing gold from some sources. Would this be the whole engine, block and all? Thanks. John B
Thanks Ron. That's very helpful. I should have asked the first time, but what about the tranny? Would it have been aluminum and unpainted? Thanks again. John B
Terry, (Hawkco) is a Galaxie man...and i don't just mean he's from another planet... ...TFF...ILMAOD...
Oops! Overlooked that little detail. It's an automatic. I presume that there was only one available? Thanks again. John B
the automatic would be natural aluminum in color.Std shift the bell housing would be about 80 percent engine color the rest would be natural aluminum color.the trans would also be natural as it was installed after the engine was painted the bell housing would have engine color on it as it is installed before the engine is painted to protect the clutch/pressure plate and fly wheel from paint overspray.
As is the air cleaner. The HI-POs/"P" code got chrome valve covers/air cleaner I think. Some also got pewter colored valve covers air cleaner(maybe the 300hp ones,"Z" code)
No Tim I did not. But it sure is running better than when you last saw it. Come by some time and we can go back to Larry's he has a new project. A 57 Ford 2 door hard top. Red and white, 390 four speed.
