So I'm buying a 1987 YJ Laredo. Its going to be our offroad baby. However the number 6 cylinder exaust valve is leaking.

I am starting some research, however if you could give me a hand on how bad of a situation this engine is let me know. Hes asking 600 for it. Overall really nice little jeep.

I dont know anything about jeeps at all. I'm trying to find what I need to replace and how to do it.

Heres a lil more info on what he sent to me:

I never heard of "air care ", what is it? I would buy the Jeep for that price if the rest of it is really clean and has no rust. It would be worth that here, even if it needed a whole new engine! I have no idea how our regions vary in price, but it sounds like a good deal to me. The engine is not hard to work on, so getting the head off isn't too much different than a Maverick or Comet 6. The issue is are the guides and seats bad too? Look at it this way, it has $500 worth of tires on it, so the Jeep is $100! :)

Pull the head and have it machined. Cost s/b $200 to $300 at the most. Not that hard to do the removal and install yourself.

Air care has to do with exhaust and emissions here in BC. Yeah im sure if i ever had too i could take it apart sell it piece by piece and come out on top haha.

I think there is a little rust, but im used to dealing with that.

Awesome I'll probably end up doing that Rick. Thanks guys.

$600.oo is a steal, even if it didn't have an engine, around here. Jeeps really hold their value, here. Are your dollars close in value to ours?
