spose it was common? that tranny i picked up on the latest "raid on klingers" netted me a tranny with numbers tracing it to a 1970 torino. how do i know if it came from a 6 or a 302? or does it matter.....
It's the same trans. The differences in ID tags was for different tail housings, low gear ratios, synchronized or not, etc.
The 250 was a pretty common entry level motor for mid size Fords from way back. My dad's '69 Fairlane had a 250/1 bbl. As a matter of fact, his '60 Fairlane (alias a land yacht with fins) had a 250 even back then. Barry's right...the C4 was a universal non-OD automatic along the Ford line. You saw little other transmissions until they offered OD transmissions in the passenger car line. I was surprised to find an FMX in my '79 LTD.
IIRC, 70 1/2 was the last year for the Falcon, and it moved to the Torino midsize platform. It should have been available with a 250.
