Thanks guys. This information will not only be useful to me now, but for others to refer to for years to come.

    Thanks,

My car has had a major overhaul, and I have not had it to the track yet. But my old set-up was: factory leaf springs, regular old traction bars, my motor had about 310 horsepower to the back tires. I run E/T slicks 28x9, 4.86 gears. Leaving the line at 2500 rpm on foot brake. My best 60' was a 1.60. The car weighed 2850 with me in it. I ran 10 pounds of air(tubeless) anything less and the car would wonder all over the place going down the track, anything more and it would spin "slightly". I think my new set-up will be slightly better. ;)

Got my last time slip taped right here to puter desk. Of course that is a reminder to me that I should never DRIVE my car to the track, broke the rearend and had to be towed 100 miles.
    60 ft 2.085
    hp 375-400
    tire size g60x15 street tires
    gear ratio 4:11
    launch rpm 2500-3000
    4 spd toploader trans
    slapper bars
license plates and mufflers on the car

rearend, wheels and tires and slapper bars all being replaced with much better stuff currently. Will know what it does for the car at the Roundup.

ps by the way,, did I mention NO traction lol,, well cept when I did an incredible burnout and got the mickey thompsons good and sticky, then I got too much traction which equals broke rearend lol

    1.39 best 60', footbrake w/ 1.76 low 'glide.
    Tires are 28x10.5-15 M/T ET Drags @ 15 psi
rear is a custom-built 9" w/4.57 gears and full steel spool, factory "daytona" pinion support.
Factory leaf springs w/ home-made caltrac bars, have no idea about the adjustments..all I know is that they work well. Slight preload on RH side, less if any on the LH side.
    pinion angle -1*
Have no idea on weight...probably around 2900 +/-
Have no idea what HP is at launch, and I don't believe in Nitrous in a bracket car--too much hassle, not to mention breaking parts...

Normal 60's are 1.45-1.48 on most days, but will go high 1.3's in colder weather, footbrake. Have not tried 'brake yet...probably end up in the mid-low 1.3's. Afraid to break parts right now..that will wait until other traction/chassis changes are made. Launch RPM (I stall it to around 3500 on the coverter) then flashes to around 4800-5000, depending on the atmospheric condiditons. Shift @ 6800, cross line @ 7000, +/-. Runs 8.60-8.90 1000' times @ 113-119 mph again depending on weather. !/8 mile times are between 6.55-6.80's 102-104 mph. Engine 14.2:1 compression stock-crank 351w, Vic Jr heads, custom Vic jr intake, 850 carb built by me MSD dizzy 12* initial, 34* all in by 1200 rpm. Cam is comp cams 260-266 @ .050" .672" lift solid roller, springs are K-motion 220# seat 540# @ 1.25", titanium retainers and locks. Comp custom length pushrods. 2.05 /1.6 stainless valves (stock on Vic Jr heads). Heads are "out-of-the-box". Anythign I'm missing?

    About the same setup!

I just got back from the track after making a ton of changes, tonight I have a 1.42 60 foot at 102mph 6.78 from my previous 1.47 at 100mph. My tires are brand new Hoosier’s 29x9x15 and I’m now thinking I should’ve stayed with MT.
I haven’t ran a ¼ mile yet but will try to this weekend (closes track is only 1/8 mile). Like Mavman I too have home made caltrac traction bars, what I did notice tonight is that I’m no longer carrying my front tires from the ground and I not sure if this is a good thing or not. I have about the same stall, carb, heads, supervictor intake, 411 gears, full spool, 635 solid lift flat tappet cam, C-4 tranny and timing at 32 all in at 2000.

What I can say is unless you need a tire as tall as the 29-inch for motor reason’s stay with a 28-inch instead, I was crossing the traps at 6700 +/- and on the dyno my motor peaked at 6000.
This of course is for a 1/4 mile track.

    I hope this helps.
