61 VW Bug

    Helped a guy in the parking lot try and push start his bug. But alas, either it or I are too old. :biglaugh:

    It is a '61 all original with 41,000 miles. Was his grandfathers, then his dads, now his.

    Was in very nice shape.

    I talked to him a little more tonite. I did not realize that the early beetles were 6V.

    What ended up being wrong with it? I had tons of beetles, back in the day! I used to put a 12V battery in the spare tire well, and had a push button switch I could give a shot to the starter with when the 6V didn't quite get her going! This worked out great, and I ran my stereo off the 12V as well. I'd charge it about every 2 weeks. An added bonus was the little bit of extra weight in the front helped to stabilize the steering! :)

    I do not know. He said the 6v would not charge or hold a charge. He took it to get it charged via a AC charger.
