    Hi,

I'm helping a guy who bought a 70 Maverick two door. It has a straight six with blown head gasket and an automatic transmission with an electrical connector on the driver's side.

How should I decode which engine and transmissions are in the car and where he should order parts for this car ?

I need to ID the transmission in order to find the wiring diagram for the electrical connector and get a rebuild kit. I suspect that this is the original transmission that came with the car, do you know when they started to use lockup transmissions ?

The carb also needs a rebuild.

If this is a "lock-up" transmission, it's not original. Are you sure it's not just a connector for reverse lights?

Though I don't think it was available until 71, if it's a floor shift the neutral safety switch mounts on the driver's side.

This is a rectangular connector with two male and two female prongs. Any idea ?

How I should ID the transmission ? We need to reubild it.
