This is the Jack that came in my 73 Mav. I have never had one that did not have a plate on the top as well as the bottom. It does not look like anything has broken off. Is this correct for the car? Not sure how it would be used.

That is the correct jack for a Maverick

The jack sticker on the underside of the trunk lid will tell you how to use it. (Assuming the sticker is still there)

If you look under your car there is a notch in the front and the back of the pinch weld. The top portion of the jack goes in there so it will not slide side to side and the top of the jack will keep it from sliding off. At leas that is the theory of it, I don't trust them at all. They are great for having if you want a complete car but I use a small floor jack. Much safer.

not to mention, that thing does a number on the pinch weld even though the notch is reinforced. I made a piece of metal I store with the jack just in case I actually have to use it. I recently have aquired a T-bird jack that works better and has a plate on the top.

    Thanks

Thanks for the info. I will most likely keep it for looks but will use a better Jack for on the road repairs. Floor jack for the shop
