What wheel came on a 74 Grabber with 250 I6? I am thinking of using steel wheels painted to match car with a center cap? Is there a 8 inch by 14' wheel available? The 8" will be for the rear and 6" for the front.

I had a 74 grabber back in 1979, 5W orange with white stripes. I came stock with Hi-Back buckets, Floor shift automatic and aluminum slotted mags with the steerhead centers.

A 74 Grabber would have came with either dog dishes with trim rings or optional aluminum slots ...

    Thanks,

I don't really like the slots. I think I'll use the dog dish with steel wheels. Paint the wheel the same color as exterior, Red. Are there any 8 inch steel wheel available?

I think you can find 8" wide wheels on Torinos and Mustangs....but they are VERY hard to find. The 7" wide ones are a little easier to find. A set of 7" wide ones just sold on ebay for $100 for a set of 4.

My 74 Grabber had the dog dish caps with rings.

Every Maverick I have had was 6" wide rims.
    Grabber, Sprint, or other...

    On the question at hand:
I have never noticed a 14"x8" steel rim on any Ford from this era. Doesn't mean it didn't happen, but I would have to see it to believe it.
I know you can get them aftermarket.

Speaking of aftermarket, several companies make custom width steel rims for Fords. They have the proper shape to use poverty caps built into them if you get Ford specific rims.
Wheel Vintiques through Summit comes to mind.
They make several diameters, and the widths go something like 4" or 5" wide through 10" wide, IIRC. All set up to use poverty caps and rings.
    Good stuff.

I would like 15x5s up front and 15x7s out back myself. Topped with flat caps and rings of course.
