I just bought a distributor at the local AutoZone autoparts store. Was in stock at the store - no special order or anything for a 1972 302. $39 wth a $30 core charge.

Here's a follow-up to my original request for
info about electronic distributor system. I
haven't been able to find original parts and
therefore have go to Pretronix Inc and ordered
a Ignitor 1261 apparently designed for the IL6
250ci. When it arrives, next week I hope, I'll
get it installed and report back to this forum
    how successful it is.
Thanks for the reply from dmhines.

I'm junking a 76 this weekend with a 250. Anybody want to convert their 6 to Ford Duraspark ignition?

You have Mustang supply companies in Canada. They can supply one. There pretty much all the same for the 302.

    PerTronix Igniter

Here's a report on the installation of the
PerTronix igniter. My distributor on the 250
IL 6 was getting run down, and I needed to
replace it but had problems finding a replace-
ment. I'm betting on the PerTronix Igniter
that I had put in my car last week. So far so
good. The IL6 seems to be motoring along with
no constant burps. The shaft and bushings needed
replacing, but with the Igniter I'm able to get
the electronic parts to take up the slack and
    compensate for the shaft travel.
I'll stay in touch by providing you with another
    report in about a month.
    Cheers,
    Mike
