ok well i have this maverick, its a 75. i got it for like 2k. its pretty good. i have had it for almost a year now. i havent drove it cuz im well scared of it cuz its touhy and when i turn it off it gives a really bad kick back. i finally have time to fix the signal light. lol now i dont know rather i should restore it to its naturaly beauty or like most other happy go lucky people, add spit shine to it and fix the baby up with the works, u know street tires, loud system, and other nice toys. well thanx for any advice u can give.

Welcome to the club!!! You should not be scared of your car, unless there is something wrong with it. They are actually quite agreeable to drive. That "kick back" you are talking about is your timing likely being too advanced, and it is dieseling after you shut it off. Set your timing. It might be me, but I can't even tell that there is a car in that pic. Take a day time picture, I am sure we would all love to see your car. In my opionion, I am always performance minded, and would suggest you turn it into a lean mean clean street machine. Good luck!!

well thanx for ur advice. i really couldnt decide rather to add MORE PPOWER or not. that kick back well i have been told that something has to be adjusted on it. i dont know yet what that is but my mom told me. besides is only does that sometimes when u turn it off. if u run it for a while it wont do it.
well ill see if i can get better pics of it up. i knoe everybody will just love to see it. i have been given 2 offers on it but have sadly turned them both down for 2 facts. 1) my step dad bought me that car 2) its the first real car that i ever owned and wanted. i had to choose between that mav or a isuzu tropper YUCK!!!!!

I saw this thread title and assumed it's where you post your photos of your '76 cars?

I own a 1976 Maverick....has about 98,450 miles right now. Been in the garage all it's life so it's in mint condition.

It was originally copper brown. When someone spilled something on the back, I decided to paint it red. I thought it had more 'attitude' that way.

Here's a link to a photo of it rather than jam up this post with a big picture.

I've gone through a lot of money with keeping it maintained.
The bummer is it gets only 16 miles per gallon.

Thus I just bought a brand new Red 2002 Miata. It gets better mileage, fits in parking spaces better etc. But it has NO TRUNK hardly.

So the Maverick is for grocery shopping etc. The Miata is for zoom, zoom, zoom.

    thanx

well thanx for the compliments earl. well a lil history on my maverick. it was purchased brand new buy this old guy back in 76. from there it pasted on to his daughter i believe. then kept in hiding. then many years passed and it find its way into a car dump haven. its aplace where ppl who r looking for a tax break or tax write off drop there heaps and otehr fine cars to b resold. my step dad so happened embarked upon it. so it was hardly touch. i believe the original color was a mello yello as i call it. lol and the inside was tan. well the dealer at the car haven place decided to take it upon himself to touch it up to give it a better look so it cheaply painted it red and cheaply painted the inside black. lol so yeah he ruined it to make it sell better. i like it red but i hate the paint job so some day ill have it all knocked off. but now its going to stay. the a/c got converted over to a 120 or something like that accroding to the guy, dont knwo what that means. lol im not that much of a car person sorry.
well it has over 764,000 miles on it. so its been places. i wanna turn it lean mean but dont knwo how. i would appreciate it if thers anyone who can offer where or how i can do that. im only a girl. girls dont know much about cars. lol so im looking towards men to help me. lol thanx for ur advice.
